He was born in Quinto di Treviso, Italy, in
the 1953.
Graduated at a high school specializing in art and at the
Fine Art School in Venice in 78, Luciano Longo lives and works
in Treviso. Since the beginning he shows a special interest
for the aesthetic aspect of the different materials he uses;
his works tend to exploit their morphological characteristics
and to put them in a balanced relation with shapes and colours.
He has exhibited his works in different Italian and European
galleries and museums. He carve, paint and create frescos,
having care of reproducing the human figure.
He was born to an artist family, from his father Luigi, famous
italian interior decorator and fresco painter, since small
kid, receive a figurative education that he will accomplish
with his study at “Liceo Artistico”.
The interest and the deep study of classics theme, mark and
scare his artistic nature in such a strong way that, after
a brief abstract production period, he keep on continuosly
and obsessively analizing human body, and studying the natural
interaction of those figures with the surrounding space.
Has his public debut in the early 70’s with abstract
material/physical sculptures and paintings.
During the venetian period has important contact and exchange
of impressions with painters and carvers as Emilio Vedova
and Alberto Viani, with interesting musicians and poets as
Luigi Nono and Rafael Alberti and with notable theatre actors
as Giovanni Poli and Arnaldo Momo.
His concern range from teaching Art History and artistic technics
to realize scenography and set design for theatre and television
(Rai radio Televisione Italiana, Antenna 3, and so on) and realizing
paint and sculpture decoration that we can admire in several
Villas in north Italy.
However his major engagement is creating sculptures, frescos,
wall paintings, mosaics, and in those various production he
use different kind of materials among which glass, marble,
wood, bronze, precious and semiprecious stones and gold. |
